If you go to Napa, go to Napa (the town)

Published on April 29 2012

Today was the day after the big hiking, tasting and dining Saturday.  We're not quite ready to go home but it's almost time.  Most everyone has checked out of the hotel and we're the last guests lingering by the pool.  It's quiet today with a pleasant sun.  Not at all too hot.

Last night the very entertaining Holly from Corison strongly suggested we drop our dinner plans in favor of the Oxbow Public Market (www.oxbowpublicmarket.com) in downtown Napa.  While we were all happy to have kept our date with Farmstead last night, her suggestion did not disappoint.  For San Franciscans you'll find a few familiar friends with Ritual Coffee, Hog Island Oyster Company, and Pica Pica.  There are others  however you can't find elsewhere.  Among the choices, a cheese market, nice looking Mexican and Italian food, not least a creperie.

Michelin reccomended Kitchen Door is a very good way to wind down a trip.  The Oxbow Market has a back patio that sits along the Napa River.  So you can grab your favorites from a long list of choices and sit out and enjoy the sun and view.

Time to go home.  Or take one last nap by the pool.
