tough day for a pig, great day for a charter school

Published on March 30 2011

What a fine day it was this past Sunday at Pizzaiolo-- unless you were the pig they roasted in support of the Realm Charter School. For the remainder of us who will live to oink another day, it was a special evening.

They were knocking out the pizza and roast pork sandwiches as fast as we could eat them. Suffice to say it was heaven. Vino sponsored by Kermit Lynch was very nice. I need to find out what the Corsican rose was. It was really nice. The servers were all the good students of the Realm Charter School. They were a thoughtful bunch of kids walking around with lots of good stuff. (I'll say there's no person more formidable a barrier between you and a meal than a parent bum rushing a 12 year old server for some pizza. C'mon parents, play nice. The kids are watching.) Three hours later they rolled us out of there. They dropped Porky's head in a big stock pot (image not for everyone).

Guys, if you're in Oakland and it's time for dinner get over to Pizzaiolo on Telegraph at 51st. Good good stuff.
